The 80/20 Rule

With the globalization of information, its easier now than ever to acquire any skill you want, its easier to become that person you always wanted to be since the tools are out there, if you are willing to look for them. The problem with the world of today though is that we get so centered on fixing our flaws, strengthening our weaknesses that we often try to change things of ourselves that are impossible to change.

The 80-20 rule states that you should focus 80 % of your time on perfecting the abilities and traits that you’re really good at, those things you’d consider your assets and only spending 20% of your time and energy on fixing those weaknesses since its more efficient to make of your strengths great skills than your weaknesses.

This is easier being said than done of course, We get so centered looking for our flaws that we forget to practice self acceptance and we get frustrated when were not able to become like we wish to be and miss the opportunity to discover who we really could be. Its ok to try to better yourself, to fix the things you don’t love about yourself but it shouldn’t take most of your time. Practice the 80-20 rule, focus on your strengths and slowly work your way to bettering your weaknesses and don’t spend your life trying to become somebody else when you could have always been someone better.
